Bathtubs can be expensive to replace, and refinishing your tub can make it look like new. With a little elbow grease, disposable latex gloves and the right tools, you can have a beautiful bathtub in no time. The Tub Company has the supplies necessary to resurface and reprime your tub. Our do-it-yourself kit, combined with 3M sandpaper, paper and tape for masking, cleansers, gloves and a respirator, will provide everything you need for your project.
It is important to wear a protective mask and gloves during the refinishng process (check out our other articles for more information). First, clean your tub throughly with chemical cleansers to lift all residue, and remove all caulking with a razor blade. Next, sand the surface so your new primer will stick. You can use 3M stickit roll sandpaper if you are unsure how much material you will need. You can cut it to your desired length.
After you finish sanding with the 3M sandpaper, clean the tub again to make sure no dust remains. Use tape and paper to cover anything around the bathtub you do not want to be coated in primer. Paint an even coating of primer in even strokes. After 30 to 45 minutes, you can apply a second coat. When the second coat has dried, you may paint your final coat. Voila! You have a gorgeous new-looking tub at a low cost.
Consider 3M Stickit Roll Sandpaper
